The Rice Networks Group Postdoctoral Research Fellow will assist in research activities under the direction of Professor Edward W. Knightly. The Rice Networks Group is a division of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow’s research will focus on the ASTRO project, with an emphasis on wireless system design, mobile sensing, machine learning, drone networks, experimental performance evaluation, and advanced prototype implementation. The ASTRO project is a platform for autonomous data-driven mobile sensing missions via networked drones. See http://astro.rice.edu for more information. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will also assist in leadership and mentoring of undergraduate and graduate students.

The successful candidate will have a strong commitment to teaching, advising, and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds.
Consistent with the National Research Council’s report, Convergence: Facilitating Transdisciplinary Integration of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences, Engineering, and Beyond, we are seeking candidates who have demonstrated ability to lead and work in research groups that demonstrate the knowledge, tools, and ways of thinking from engineering, mathematics, and computational, natural, social and behavioral sciences to solve societal problems using a convergent approach.
Education Required PhD or other Doctoral Degree Major/DisciplineElectrical and computer engineering, computer science, or related fields.

Must be able to work at a computer for extended periods of time (up to 8 hours).
Working ConditionsMonday through Friday, flexible hours during normal 40 hour work week.
