The Post-Doctoral Fellow will be asked to conduct research focusing on the following areas: nanoparticle synthesis, nanoparticle characterization, nanoparticle catalyst design, electrocatalysis testing for fuel oxidation, electrochemistry in alkaline electrolyte systems, and identification of fuel degradation products. The Post-Doctoral fellow will also be required to write peer-reviewed papers, present research at national conferences, work in a team-based environment, mentor younger researchers, and lastly, contribute to proposal writing, group organization, and research development.

  • Ph.D. obtained by the time of appointment
  • Ph.D. in chemistry, chemical engineering or related field
  • At least two first-author peer-reviewed, published journal articles
  • Experimental laboratory skills in, nanoparticle synthesis, electrochemistry techniques, cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, chronopotentiometry, electrochemical data analysis, materials characterization (TEM, SEM, XRD, XPS, ICP), and chemical characterization (FTIR; HPLC)

  • Three to four publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Experience in electrochemical cell design and configuration; cyclic voltammetry, chronoamperometry, chronopotentiometry; electrochemical data analysis; microwave nanoparticle synthesis; aqueous phase nanoparticle synthesis; in situ / operando spectroscopy expertise; in situ cell design and operation in situ FTIR / ATR-FTIR
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Proficiently skilled in Microsoft Office suite, Origin graphing software, and electrochemical potentiostat interfaces
  • Experimental wet chemistry lab skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment, work collaboratively, and work on interdisciplinary teams/projects
