Position Title Associate Vice President of Leadership Gifts Requisition Number SCA00290 General Description

Reporting to the Vice President for Institutional Advancement/Executive Director of the College Foundation, the Associate Vice President of Leadership Gifts provides leadership and oversight in the areas of fundraising, strategy development, leadership of diverse teams, management of major gift prospect portfolios, planned giving, direct mail, annual fund, campaign management, donor communications, stewardship and event management. The Associate Vice President of Leadership Gifts is responsible for strategic leadership and direction of philanthropic programs at the College for targeted major gifts and planned giving that will encompass estate gifts and income arrangements. This position also plays a crucial role in the planning and development of a comprehensive fundraising campaign.

Specific Responsibilities

• In collaboration with the President and the VP of Institutional Advancement, develop fundraising goals and strategies for increasing private donor and fundraising support, especially for capital and comprehensive campaigns.

• Assist the VP in the development and administration of policies and procedures, strategic plans, performance metrics, and other initiatives.

• Provide leadership in the management of major gift prospect portfolios and create individual development plans to convert high-capacity, high inclination donors to major gift donors.

• Provide leadership and oversight of the fundraising and donor-relations areas to drive the attainment of goals related to strategic, deliberate fund development.

• Collaborate with faculty, staff and members of the Foundation Board in the development of customized, intentional cultivation and solicitation plans.

• Partner with the Foundation leadership and oversee a cadre of volunteers whose purpose is to help identify, cultivate and solicit other prospective donors.

• Support the VP in managing special projects, and representing the division and College internally and externally.

• Develop and maintain strategies to ensure regular communications and stewardship with donors, including re-solicitations, proper acknowledgement of gifts and pledge payments, gift agreements, reporting, visiting, etc. and providing regular information on the progress of the departments.

• Develop and administer programs that incorporate best practices in donor-centered fundraising, ensure that all solicitations follow priorities developed by College leadership.

• Develop and implement an annual work plan with measurable objectives and courses of action for all relevant fundraising activities.

• Make appropriate recommendations to leadership concerning their roles and involvement in the identification, cultivation, or solicitation of appropriate donors and prospects.

• Develop and implement a plan to maintain documentation of all contacts, communications, visits, and proposals in Raiser’s Edge and other appropriate donor files.

• Maintain sensitivity, understanding and respect for a diverse academic environment inclusive of students, faculty and staff of varying social economic, cultural, ideological and ethnic backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required.

• Minimum 8 years of leadership experience in fundraising/advancement/development.

• High-level campaign management experience, from inception to close.

• Demonstrated personal success in cultivating, soliciting, and closing leadership, principal and transformative gifts.

• Experience in leading a group of fundraisers, training incumbent employees to develop principal and leadership gifts.

• Knowledge of planned giving vehicles and track record of closing significant estate gifts, charitable gift annuities and charitable remainder trusts.

• An established track record of proactively growing philanthropic revenue from diverse constituencies.

• Strong computer aptitude.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Demonstrated history of superior team leadership including experience building strong, autonomous, and collaborative teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master’s Degree preferred.

• Experience in community college advancement preferred.
