Elgin Community College (ECC) is a comprehensive, fully accredited community college located in Elgin, Illinois, one of its most rapidly growing cities. Our district encompasses 360 square miles, serving 400,000 people, 11,000 businesses with four public school districts and 15 high schools. ECC was selected as one of five Illinois community colleges to participate in the national Achieving the Dream (AtD) initiative. is a long-term national initiative that collaborates with community colleges to help more students earn degrees, complete certificates, or transfer to four-year institutions to continue their studies. The park-like setting of our 145 acre Main Campus offers instruction spanning nine major buildings with beautiful views. ECC also offers classes throughout the northwest suburbs of Chicago with more than 100 off-campus locations.

Function:

The mission of the Center for Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CETL) is to provide leadership and support to faculty in order to strengthen teaching and enhance student learning.

This position will:
* Promote excellence in teaching and learning
*Foster faculty awareness and adoption of effective, high impact teaching strategies.
*Develop vision and plans for the CETL through building collaborative and trusting relationships with faculty, administration, and staff.

Essential Responsibilities:

1. Collaborate with TLSD Vice President's office, Deans, Instructional Coordinators, Administrators, ECCFA, CETL Advisory Committee, Institutional Research, Institutional Compliance and Curriculum, Faculty Development Committee, and other department stakeholders to determine and leverage learning opportunities for faculty, research professional development needs and assist in the adoption of best practices in instruction.

2. Design, develop, manage, and implement faculty development programming tailored to different stages of the career continuum in alignment with:
a. Strategic goals
b. TLSD priorities
c. Divisional and program priorities
d. Individual needs

3. Design, coordinate and provide or facilitate delivery of instruction for faculty onboarding/orientation programs

4. Establish and sustain faculty mentoring and coaching initiatives.

5. Oversee faculty recognition processes.

6. Utilize data/research (e.g. discipline literature, CCSSE, ICAT, etc.) to inform program development

7. Utilize evaluative strategies to improve CETL program programming and CETL effectiveness, develop and progress reports as required

8. Provide budget oversight management.

9. Plan and develop a responsive and proactive CETL schedule of offerings.

10. Negotiate contracts with guest presenters and speakers.

11. Remain current on research related to high impact/best teaching practices (e.g. course design, methodology, experiential learning, communities of practice, assessment, mentoring and coaching, etc.)

6. Utilize data/research (e.g. discipline literature, CCSSE, ICAT, etc.) to inform program development

Requirements:
1. Master's degree (MA) in an academic discipline, instructional design, pedagogy, curriculum or organizational development and/or equivalent; or equivalent combination of education, certifications and/or experience.

2. Three years of teaching experience.

3. Robust evidence of teaching and learning excellence.

4. Evidence of innovation in teaching.

5. Current knowledge of adult learning theory and styles, faculty development, e-Learning and, high-impact teaching/learning methods for diverse populations.

6. Experience in utilizing evaluative strategies to improve teaching and program effectiveness.

7. Ability to collaborate with others in a highly professional manner.

8. Excellent communication skills, including written and oral presentations.

9. Proficient in the use of organizational office software and instructional technology.
