Job Summary


The Director for the College-Career Connect is responsible for the overall planning, direction and coordination of the College-Career Connect program which assists students between the ages of 16 to 24 years old to obtain a workforce credential. The position serves as a coordinator between Miami Dade County Schools, across MDC campuses and Academic Schools, as well as employer partners. This is a Professional Exempt Contractual (PEC) position for which an annual contract reflecting the base salary within the fiscal year (July 1st to June 30th) will be issued after ratification by Miami Dade College's District Board of Trustees. This grant position will be eligible for participation in the Florida Retirement System (FRS) after 6 consecutive months of continuous employment.This is a temporary grant funded position.


Duties & Responsibilities


  • Plans, directs and oversees the operations of the College Career Connect program
  • Manages all stages of the program life cycle including promotion, marketing, recruitment, logistics, course creation, student monitoring and program evaluation
  • Promotes awareness of the program internally and externally
  • Serves as the liaison between the Office of Workforce Education and Partnerships and internal and external stakeholders
  • Conducts grant outcomes tracking and coordination of grant assessment activities
  • Manages grant budget to ensure that funds are spent according to grant requirement deliverables
  • Collaborates with administrators and faculty to coordinate recruitment and marketing, facilitate credential evaluation, advise students and create course schedules
  • Assists in the recruitment of students from Miami Dade County Public Schools career pathways programs in information technology and logistics and supply chain management through a specialized admissions process
  • Assists in advising students on secondary and postsecondary course selection and ensures optimal class schedules for the duration of the program
  • Coordinates access to financial aid counseling and comprehensive supportive services
  • Coordinates training and supplemental instruction as needed, leading to industry certifications, college credit certificates or associate degree through cohort based learning community
  • Facilitates paid internships and hiring for permanent positions with MDC's business partners
  • Develops and maintains process for paid industry certification examinations and incentive scholarships for participation in fast-track training
  • Performs other duties as assigned



Minimum Requirements


  • Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of relevant experience; or a Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited institution and seven (7) years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of College organization, goals and objectives and policies and procedures
  • Knowledge of grant management including budget and reporting
  • Knowledge of Microsoft office software and specific computer programs related to area of responsibility
  • Ability to recruit and advise students
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Ability to effectively present information to groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions for reporting purposes
  • Ability to work in a multi-ethnic and multi-cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, evenings, and weekend assignments
