This individual will report to Dr. Shiekhattar, Professor in the department of Human Genetics. The incumbent will perform technical laboratory duties in accordance with general and/or specific plans and will provide technical assistance in carrying out various research projects and will be collecting and organizing information for project reports. This position will contribute to the development and enhancement of translational approaches to cancer treatment through elucidation of the molecular mechanisms, in particular epigenetic processes, underlying transcriptional deregulation and pathogenesis. 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform laboratory experiments and carries out research projects in various areas of biology, biomedical, and cell biology, including research projects involving animals.

Construct, assemble, and operate laboratory apparatus and equipment.

Record and evaluate data in accordance with methods requested.

Solves problems in scientific and technical execution, interpret experimental data and maintain accurate records.

Participates in publications of significant results, to include authorship of scientific monographs and for scientific presentations.  

Keeps abreast of latest literature in the field and search for references to technical problems and keep up-to-date of the methods and techniques related to the specific field of research.

Works collaboratively within team setting with scientists and post doctoral associates and provide technical assistance to lab members as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.
