Job Details

Kutztown University of Pennsylvania seeks applicants for the position of Associate Provost for Accreditation and Assessment beginning July 1, 2019.  The Associate Provost is responsible for administration of all aspects of accreditations, assessments, and continuous improvements within the Division of Academic Affairs.  The Associate Provost works with deans, department chairs, administrative directors, faculty, and staff to facilitate and support a culture of assessment that improves the effectiveness of the educational experience the University provides to its students.  In addition, the Associate Provost collaborates with other divisions to promote institutional assessment and effectiveness.  The position reports to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
 
The ideal candidate should have the experience and professional qualifications necessary to oversee all accreditations including programs and majors with specialized accreditations; manage the five-year program review process for academic programs and track the status of program reviews in collaboration with deans, department chairs, and faculty; coordinate the annual assessments by administrative departments in Academic Affairs; contribute to the analysis of assessment data; collect and integrate all assessment data for internal use and to satisfy accreditation goals and objectives; oversee appropriate databases relevant to student and institutional outcomes assessment; work with assessment committees across the University to prioritize projects, strategies, and tools; oversee budgets related to assessments, accreditations, and programs reviews; oversee the Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and other areas as assigned; and recommend the purchase of software/hardware relevant to assessments and accreditations that are applicable across divisions.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have an earned doctorate or appropriate terminal degree from a regionally accredited institution; a minimum of three (3) years administrative experience in higher education; demonstrated experience in managing and guiding successful assessment practices and student learning outcomes; teaching experience in higher education; demonstrated experience with regional accreditation; understanding of current pedagogical practices in both graduate and undergraduate higher education; demonstrated scholarship within the applicant's discipline, or in the scholarship of teaching, and/or in assessment; excellent organizational, leadership, and communication skills; understanding of and an ability to work within a shared governance structure; demonstrated commitment to faculty and student engagement; proven ability and skill to identify and analyze complex situations, present alternatives and options, and recommend or implement effective courses of action; and, demonstrated experience working with diverse populations.
 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

The successful candidate will have demonstrated experience managing regional accreditation processes; demonstrated experience with discipline specific accreditation; experience as a department chair or director in higher education; and experience working in a multi-union collective bargaining environment.
