Division Head/Professor of Surgery

The Division of GI, Tumor, Endocrine Surgery (GITES) in the Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine invites applications for the full-time position of Head, Division of GI, Tumor, Endocrine Surgery. Candidates should be board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care, and eligible for licensure in the State of Colorado.

The Head of the Division of GI, Tumor and Endocrine Surgery has responsibility for University programs at affiliated teaching hospitals of the University of Colorado School of Medicine. The ideal candidate would be comfortable with all aspects of general surgery including trauma and acute care surgery and should have a demonstrated track record of senior leadership. The GITES Division has programs at the University of Colorado Hospital, the Children's Hospital Colorado, the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Denver Health Medical Center and elsewhere. The Division Head will be responsible for academic activities including teaching of medical students, residents and fellows; research; and related service duties. Leadership and communication skills are important.


Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:



The successful candidate will be at the Full Professor level with a proven track record of accomplishment in general surgery, research and programmatic development. The candidate should be dedicated to the growth and development of an academic mission of the Division of GI, Tumor and Endocrine Surgery.

Candidates are required:

  • To have a U.S. Medical Degree or Foreign Equivalent.
  • To be board certified in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care
  • To be at the Full Professor level within their academic institution.
