Position:
College of Education invites applications for a tenure-track Associate or Full Professor to begin teaching in the Department of Early Childhood Education beginning Fall 2019. The position is for an applicant with expertise in early childhood development, gifted education and talent development.
Qualifications Required:
Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education, Gifted Education, or a closely related field. Preferred qualifications include K-5 or 6-12 teaching and/or administrative experience. Preference will also be given to candidates presenting evidence of a research agenda related to equity issues in gifted education, creativity, curriculum and/or programming, and/or multicultural gifted education.
Responsibilities:
Contribute to the continued development and success of the department that is developing the gifted talented concentration through research, teaching, and mentoring of students. Instructional roles include teaching undergraduate and graduate level courses in early childhood and in gifted and talented education, in both traditional and online formats, and potentially at satellite locations. The successful candidate will be expected to sustain an ongoing research agenda in their area of specialization, including regular publications in quality outlets, professional presentations, and submission of external grant proposals. Serve on dissertation committee is expected, as well as representation of the discipline and department via committee participation and other relevant service activities.

The Department of Early Childhood Education is distinguished nationally and regionally by its breadth, expertise and innovative practices. Towson University has been a leader in teacher preparation for over 150 years and its programs are recognized for their high quality and innovation. The programs in the Department of Early Childhood Education have received Nationally Recognized decisions by National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). There are over 1000 undergraduate and graduate students participating in the Early Childhood programs.
