Job Summary/Basic Function: JOB SUMMARY This position is responsible for directing the operations of the School of Education.

 

MAJOR DUTIES • Serves as the administrative head of the School of Education; oversees daily operations in accordance with University System of Georgia and college policies and procedures; • Manages faculty recruitment and development; supervises and evaluates faculty; coordinates faculty teaching assignments. • Manages curriculum planning, curriculum development and course scheduling. • Coordinates the articulation of school mission and goals; coordinates school committees to promote programs and student success. • Reviews faculty portfolios; meets with faculty members regarding tenure and promotion; coordinates faculty professional development strategies; recommends faculty for tenure and promotion. • Prepares and submits annual reports to the Provost & Vice President of Academic Affairs. • Develops budget proposals and manages assigned budgetary funds. • Meets with students to resolve curriculum and degree completion issues; mediates and resolves disputes involving faculty members and students. • Coordinates academic advising; develops and implements student retention plans. • Oversees the maintenance of accreditation reports and prepares for accreditation reviews. • Promotes programs and enrollment through orientation or recruitment programs. • Teaches one class each semester as workload permits. • Performs related duties as assigned.

 

Annual Salary is $90,277.81

 

Minimum Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS • Knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a doctoral degree in a course of study related to the occupational field. • Experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the diverse objectives and functions of the subunits in the division/department in order to direct and coordinate work within the division/department, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED BY THE POSITION • Knowledge of education disciplines. • Knowledge of accreditation requirements. • Knowledge of assessment and strategic planning strategies. • Knowledge of budget development and management principles. • Knowledge of classroom practices, teaching methodologies, assessment systems, and educational technology. • Skill in the delegation of responsibility and authority. • Skill to make timely decisions. • Skill in the operation of computers and job related software programs. • Skill in decision making and problem solving. • Skill in interpersonal relations and in dealing with the public. • Skill in oral and written communication.
