JOB TITLE:                Associate Dean for Clinical Affairs

SUPERVISOR:          Dean for College of Dental Medicine

EFFORT:                    1.0 FTE, Full Time, Exempt

EDUCATION:           DDS, DMD

The Associate Dean of Clinical Affairs will be part of the College of Dental Medicine faculty and a key member of the Dean’s leadership team.  With their exemplary reputation as a clinical dentistry leader, the Associate Dean will provide support and innovation to all clinical activites under the aegis of the college and create a model setting for clinical education.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The Associate Dean Clinical Affairs will be responsible for:

  1. Be responsible for the development of clinical sites in conjunction with the senior leadership group of the college and the university:  Including the primary clinical site,  a CNU community clinic, and health system/hospital based facilities
  2. Be responsible for all clinical activities at sites operated by CNSU: including credentialing of clinical staff, quality assurance, continuing education, clinical operations, facilities management, infection control, medical records, financial operations with a clinical operations team developed for this purpose.
  3. Assure patient centered care that is socially conscious for all those cared for in CNSU oral health programs
  4.  Report to the Dean and the CFO as well as the senior leadership group as required  regarding appropriate aspects of clinical operations
  5. Making contact with health systems regarding training experiences that convert into practicum and externship experiences for our students
  6. Develop MOU’s and manage clinical education at those externship sites
  7. Managing the College of Dental Medicine’s relationships with clinical sites
  8. Ensuring the clinical program meets state licensing and University requirements
  9. Interact with academic dean with regard to complying with CODA standards for clinical care
  10. Develop necessary policies and procedures for clinical sites both those operated by CNSU and externship affiliated sites
  11. Liaise with the Associate Dean of Clinical Education regarding the integration of the clinical practicum and student achievement of clinical competencies within the framework of the clinical curriculum
  12. Serving on the Dean’s Executive Committee
  13. Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

Must have:

  1. Excellent leadership skills and leadership training
  2. A , DMD, DDS and advanced training from a CODA accredited program
  3. Experience managing complex organizational tasks
  4. A proven track record of writing and approving policies and procedures
  5. Experience evaluating clinical program effectiveness
  6. Previous experience with conflict resolution
  7. Knowledge of accrediting standards, including WASC and CODA
  8. The ability to analyze complex problems and provide solutions
  9. Comprehensive knowledge of the discipline of dental medicine
  10. The ability to speak and write clearly and concisely

 

 

Preferred:

  1. A license to practice in the state of California
  2. Completion of an dental internship
  3. Experience working on teams with a variety of healthcare professionals
  4. Knowledge of local training and educational opportunities for students
  5. Prior teaching experience at various academic levels
  6. Establishment of positive and harmonious relationships with others
  7. Proven excellence in public speaking
  8. Previous experience representing a large organization to the public

About: Our new 110,000 square foot facility located in Elk Grove is right off of Interstate 5 just minutes south of Sacramento. The new facility is currently home to both the College of Pharmacy and College of Medicine and was designed with new academic and research facilities for our students and faculty. Our new College of Health Sciences facility is located right off of Highway 50 just minutes west of Sacramento. The College of Health Sciences program offers a four-year Bachelor of Science in Health Sciences, 2+4 and 3+4 BS-MD and BS-PharmD accelerated programs in partnership with the CNU College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy, and a Pre-Med Post Baccalaureate Program.
