Assistant Provost, Graduate and Professional Studies

Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking an Assistant Provost, Graduate and Professional Studies in the Office of Online and Extended Studies that is responsible for the implementation and coordination of all functions within the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies assigned by the VP for Online and Extended Studies. This position oversees the day-to-day operations of the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies; provides information and data to the VP for Online and Extended Studies and others concerning the operation of graduate and professional programs; and works collaboratively with graduate and professional programs and offices on campus to enhance the retention and success of students, developing policies and procedures in collaboration with faculty, staff, and administrators.

Primary responsibilities include:

Oversee and monitor institutional effectiveness initiatives to ensure that they are designed and executed to meet accreditation requirements in a timely, efficient, and effective manner; Assist the VP in the ongoing development and execution of an iterative strategic plan and a continuous quality improvement program for graduate and professional programs; Review and update policies and procedures related to the implementation of graduate and professional programs and initiatives; Oversee the day-to-day operations of the Office of Graduate and Professional Studies which provides support to graduate and professional students, on-ground and online; oversees the graduate commencement ceremony; and maintains the graduate catalog in cooperation with the Office of the Registrar; Serve on and provide administrative support for the Graduate Academic Standing Committee; Review student reports weekly and provide early detection of at-risk students, support retention efforts, and identify errors in data entry; Work with appropriate faculty, staff, and partners to assist in the planning and development of graduate programs with special consideration to emerging markets; Other related duties as assigned; Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license; Limited domestic and international travel may be required; A valid US passport may be required for international travel.

Qualifications:

Doctoral degree preferred. Master’s Degree required; Prior experience in higher education required; Experience in supervision of staff; An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
