Finance Operations Manager
In collaboration with Initiative faculty leadership, direct and oversee the fiscal management and administrative functions for the Institute, a complex research unit co-located in multiple cities. Responsible for providing leadership and direction to the pre- and post-award activities for grant and contract management. Responsible for controlling program operations to ensure coordination of administrative aspects of multiple research projects, allocating resources to ensure program results. Represent the Institute to internal and external program partners, collaborators, funding agencies, and regulatory agencies.
Authorized to act with delegated authority to make and implement decisions to ensure continuity of operations. Collaborates with the leadership team to implement short- and long-range plans to achieve the goals of the unit.
Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and four (4) years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified which has included at least one (1) year of supervisory experience. Any combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted for the educational requirement on a year-for-year basis.
Additional Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or related. Four years of demonstrated experience in pre-award coordination, financial and administrative functions including, but not limited to: revenue and expenditure, accounts payable and receivable, purchasing, payroll, operating budgets, financial control and reporting systems or other related experience. Advanced computer skills with Microsoft Office Suite. Experience managing the life cycle of projects from concept development, through applications, startup, data collection and/or implementation, to publication and closeout. Work requires a flexible schedule including some evenings and weekends. Work requires travel, including overnight. Work requires a valid driver’s license.
Preferred Qualifications: Demonstrated experience providing research program administration focused on public health issues. Demonstrated experience applying Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and experience in the application in non-profit/governmental entities. Experience working in an academic, public health research environment.
