The Biology Department is currently seeking applications for a Laboratory Manager. Responsibilities to include, but not be limited to, the following activities as they pertain to the Biology Department's domain in Robertson Hall, and perform similar activities in other departmental locations as needed: responsibility for biology lab preparation, set-up and take-down; potentially to include supervised trial experiments; supervise student workers; support faculty research; handle departmental purchases and payments, including some local travel for purchases; oversee and maintain lab support and safety facilities and functions such as cell culture, lab prep rooms, non-ambient storage, autoclave and wash room, eyewash and safety showers, etc.; assist in inventory; work with and report to College compliance officers and the Department Chair to maintain compliance with chemical, biological, radiation, and laboratory safety requirements; perform minor maintenance of equipment and coordinate with equipment and facilities maintenance staff and contractors; set up of refreshments for seminars and other departmental functions; oversee plant care in buildings and assist as required with the animal care facility.

Serve as the College Biological Safety Officer and as a member of the Institutional Biosafety Committee; have primary responsibility for inventory and safe storage and disposal of chemicals and biologicals throughout the Biology Department's facilities.Excellent communication skills are required. Demonstrated ability to organize numerous projects, consistently meet deadlines, tolerate frequent interruptions, and exercise professional judgment. Experience working in a laboratory environment, knowledge of laboratory procedures and operations and supervisory skills preferred. Proficiency on Microsoft Office required. Must be self-directed and enjoy working in a team-based environment. This position requires a valid driver's license, good driving record, and must be insurable by the College's insurance carrier.
