    DESCRIPTION


    The Marine Biogeochemistry research group in the Department of Earth System Science (ESS) at University of California Irvine, seeks to hire a full time Assistant Researcher. The successful applicant will be expected to independently develop and lead new research while complementing existing expertise in ESS, write proposals, lead publication of the results in peer-reviewed literature and summarize/present findings at scientific conferences and in public lectures to a broad audience. Experience in both ship-based and lab-based marine organic geochemistry is required. Expertise in elemental analysis, light stable isotope mass spectrometry, accelerator mass spectrometry, HPLC, NMR, compound-class, compound-specific and size-fractionated organic matter isotopic analysis and other molecular-level techniques is required. Experience advising postdocs, graduate students and undergraduate students is required. The position requires a Ph.D. in a relevant field. Salary will be based on qualifications and level of experience.
