Job Summary: POSITION: The University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences is seeking candidates for the position of Professor and Head of the Department of Animal and Dairy Science. This is a 12-month, tenure-track position. The Animal and Dairy Science Department consists of 30 faculty members, approximately 60 support staff, and 50 graduate students. Undergraduate enrollment is approximately 300. The department is located at two campuses, the University of Georgia in Athens and the Coastal Plain Experiment Station in Tifton. Research is also conducted at several branch stations. Extension faculty are also located at CAES facilities in Tifton and Calhoun. Programs are conducted in quantitative and molecular genetics, regenerative bioscience, ruminant and monogastric nutrition and digestive physiology, production-management, reproductive physiology, animal health, meat science and muscle biology and aquaculture. Programs are focused on economically important animals, including beef cattle, swine, dairy cattle, horses, sheep, and aquatic species. RESPONSIBILITIES: The successful candidate will be expected to administer and coordinate high-quality and internationally recognized teaching, extension and research programs. Specific responsibilities include personnel recruitment, performance evaluations, coordinating promotion and tenure procedures, program planning and implementation, budget management and management of physical facilities, including both laboratory and animal facilities. The individual will also be expected to work effectively with, and represent faculty to, university and agency administrators, state and federal agency personnel, and industry clientele. The Department Head reports directly to the Dean of the College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and works closely with Associate and Assistant Deans. Minimum Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Animal Science, Dairy Science, or a closely related discipline, and demonstrated excellence in teaching, extension and/or research are required. Evidence of leadership potential is required. The successful applicant must qualify for the rank of full professor.

Preferred Qualifications: Administrative experience is desirable.
