Senior Financial Analyst
Atlanta Metropolitan State College, a four-year degree-granting institution of the University System of Georgia, is accepting applications for a Senior Financial Analyst. Atlanta Metropolitan State College currently serves over 3000 commuting students on its beautifully landscaped campus which is located 10 minutes south of downtown Atlanta and 15 minutes north of Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport.
Responsibilities will manage general ledger transaction activities, verify and post a variety of financial transactions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and University System of Georgia (USG) policies and procedures; Compile and analyze complex financial data to ensure the development of accurate and consistent financial and operating reports.
Compile and verify the accuracy and validity of complex accounting transactions, often requiring in-depth analysis and resolution; Compile and analyze data to prepare entries to general ledger; Analyze financial information for accuracy in processing month-end closing; Review monthly reports and make adjusting journal entries as needed; Prepare various reconciliations, including payroll and balance sheet accounts; Review posting of transactions to appropriate accounts; Maintain financial records, including general accounting activities; May participate in asset management, construction or facilities related projects, including depreciation of fixed assets; May participate in tax reporting; May lead and provide guidance to other accountants and accounting assistants regarding more complex assignments.
The candidate may be required to demonstrate and perform certain skills, tasks, and abilities that exhibit proficiency with certain computer software and/or accounting techniques during the interview process
Perform other related duties as assigned.
This job requires application of advanced accounting principles and practices as they relate to recording and reporting financial transactions and related data in a college and university environment. Analytical and problem solving skills are needed as is advanced use of business and accounting related computer applications. Knowledge of University System of Georgia fund accounting processes and practices is required.
A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field is required; must have at least Five years of demonstrated related job experience within the USG or other relevant educational sector.
Demonstrated ability to work with multiple tasks to meet deadlines; Computer experience with Windows, MS Excel/Word, Banner and PeopleSoft, including experience with PeopleSoft queries.
This position will interact on a consistent basis with college divisions, departments and other financial personnel. This position typically will advise and counsel other accounting personnel.
