The University of Florida College of Medicine invites applications for the position of Assistant Dean and Director of the Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation (CELS)
The University of Florida Center for Experiential Learning and Simulation (UF-CELS) was designed to support state of the art clinical skills and team training activities across the Health Science Colleges and graduate medical programs including patient safety programs within UF Health Shands Hospital. The nationally unique Oberndorf Experiential Learning Theater within UF-CELS provides highly adaptable space that can accommodate up to eight human patient simulators simultaneously and configured in a variety of settings to create specific clinical scenarios of patient care.
The Assistant Dean/Director of UF-CELS will report to the Senior Associate Dean for Educational Affairs and will be responsible for creating the programmatic vision in coordination with key stakeholders within the Health Science Center to position UF and the UF College of Medicine as an innovative leader in experiential learning and patient simulation. This will include planning, designing, implementing, and evaluating multi-disciplinary simulation-based learning and assessment across the continuum of health professions education in conjunction with developing a medical education research program that assesses the effectiveness of experiential learning and patient simulation on clinical outcomes. The Assistant Dean/Director will be responsible for all of the educational programs and administration of activities and staff in the UF-CELS, directing their activities to achieve the vision of becoming a nationally and internationally recognized center.
Academic rank and salary for this position will be commensurate with qualifications.

Candidates for this position must possess an M.D. or graduate degree in a relevant discipline, outstanding communication and leadership skills, with budget development experience and an ongoing record of academic accomplishment.
Candidates with experience directing medical education programs including simulation based education as well as training and experience developing and leading successful faculty development programs are preferred.
