The Director of Graduate Enrollment is the primary individual responsible for the enrollment life cycle of all School of Medicine and Dentistry (SMD) graduate programs; from lead generation and prospect development to application submission, admission decisions and arrival on-campus. The Director, in conjunction with the Office for Graduate Education and Postdoctoral Affairs (GEPA) and SMD program staff, will develop and lead all operations associated with this cycle. An ideal candidate will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, proven skills in data analytics and reporting, a proven project management and strategic planning background and the ability to exercise independent thought and leadership.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Enrollment management (35% effort)

  • Oversee the procedures associated with the admissions process through the online CRM and application management system (Slate).  Leverage Slate to track engagement, facilitate application review, communicate decisions to applicants, and track responses.
  • Represent the University of Rochester as the primary point-of-contact with Slate and liaise with representatives from other schools at the University, and University IT, to provide guidance and direction in matters related to the performance, usage and maintenance of the on-line application system (Slate).
  • Lead efforts to communicate processes related to the enrollment of graduate students and training department faculty and staff on these processes.
  • Evaluate and recommend changes, as appropriate, in the administration of various components of the enrollment operation.
  • Coordinate and assist in the selection of University and SMD fellowships for incoming students.

Develop marketing strategies for SMD Master's and Certificate programs in partnership with the SMD programs and other University Offices (35% effort)

  • Develop and design marketing materials including brochures, web content, email marketing and other pieces for master’s and certificate programs.
  • Manage the entire marketing life cycle from strategic planning to tactical activities.
  • Specify market requirements for current and future programs.
  • Coordinate the use of social media (including, but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, YouTube) and new uses of technology as marketing tools.
  • Represent SMD at conferences and off-campus recruiting events.
  • Record student prospect information and coordinate related follow up.
  • Work with SMD programs to meet selectivity, yield and enrollment goals.

Develop recruitment initiatives for SMD PhD programs in partnership with SMD programs and other University Offices (25% effort)

  • Conduct informational interviews and make formal group presentations at campus recruitment events and at off campus programs.
  • Convey accurate and current academic information to prospective students, faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrate initiative in assuming new assignments to address recruitment needs of targeted departments.
  • Represent SMD at conferences and off-campus recruiting events.
  • Record student prospect information and coordinate related student follow up.

Other duties as assigned (5% effort)

  • Serve as liaison with Deans, Directors, and Department Chairs/Center Directors.
  • Serve on appropriate SMD committees and working groups.
  • Partner with UR undergraduate admissions for recruiting initiatives.
  • Partner with the Kearns Center for graduate recruiting initiatives.
  • Partner with the SMD Center for Professional Development and URBEST program to plan events and lectures from distinguished alumni and networking opportunities for SMD graduate students.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's degree, Master's/MBA preferred.
  • 3-4 years of experience in marketing, admissions, higher education, particularly graduate education, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 
  • Demonstrated project management and strategic planning skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large datasets; organize, analyze and interpret data.
  • Technical skills: mastery of Excel, proficiency and/or willingness to learn various software packages including the University of Rochester student information system, the Slate online application system and OnBase document management.
  • Valid NYS Driver's license.
