The College of Health Professions invites applications for established scholars and clinicians and promising faculty applicants for five tenure-track or clinical 10-month Assistant or Associate positions beginning August 2017.
Research or practice doctorate and master’s degree in nursing with expertise in a respective specialty area. ABD candidates considered, but appointment will be at the Instructor rank and all degree requirements must be completed by February 1, 2018. Candidates for tenure-track must demonstrate evidence of a program of research eligible for external funding. Licensure or eligibility for licensure in Maryland is required. Two years of recent experience in teaching and/or practice related to the candidate’s clinical specialty is preferred. Demonstrated success in working with diverse populations of students is also preferred. Academic rank as an Assistant or Associate Professor (tenure-track) or as a Clinical Assistant or Associate Professor will be commensurate with qualifications and university promotion and tenure criteria. Applicants with expertise in pediatrics and obstetrics will be given preference. All candidates are expected to possess a strong commitment to excellence in teaching and advising.
Undergraduate and graduate instruction: academic advising; scholarly research activities; and university and community service.
Department of Nursing:
The Department of Nursing is one of six departments in the College of Health Professions and CCNE accredited with approximately 425 undergraduate students. The department offers master’s programs in nursing education and nursing administration and has over 50 students enrolled in graduate studies. Post-baccalaureate/post-master’s certificates in nursing education are available. Student admission is highly competitive. The Department of Nursing also offers the baccalaureate and master’s degree at the Western Maryland Hagerstown campus, a regional center within the University System of Maryland.
