Chancellor
Richmond Region
The Board of Trustees of Ivy Tech Community College-Richmond Region announces the search for its top leadership position—Chancellor.
As Indiana’s sole statewide community college system, Ivy Tech is a key partner in the state’s workforce and economic development efforts, and a key collaborator among its fellow higher education institutions. In the Richmond region, this affords Ivy Tech the opportunity to work with world-class corporations in fields like advanced logistics, advanced manufacturing, energy, healthcare, and technology. The region is also unique in its proximity to several world-class colleges and universities, such as Indiana University-East and Earlham College along with significant k-12 partners. As a result, the region’s Chancellor is a key contributor to efforts vitally important to shaping the economic future of the region. As the leader of one of Ivy Tech’s most significant regions, the Chancellor works closely with Ivy Tech President Thomas J. Snyder as the College helps shape the economic future of the state as whole.
Ivy Tech’s dual mission includes providing academic programs for the emerging workforce as well as customized and short-term training solutions for the incumbent workforce. Because the region is economically and geographically diverse, the College’s programs must be equally as varied including rapid response to emerging businesses, as well as 28 degree programs, including many that transfer to four-year colleges and universities. Extensive course and program articulation agreements are in place with Indiana University, Purdue University, Ball State University and other four-year institutions.
Founded in 1968, Ivy Tech Community College has grown from a career/technical institute to a full-service community college with excellent facilities and an enviable capital development plan. During the past decade, credit-hour enrollment has increased by nearly 243% percent and the region is poised for continued growth and progress. The region offers state-of-the-art facilities including the Richmond campus which has recently completed a multi-million dollar capital campaign which supported the development of two new campus buildings.
Less than one hour from Indianapolis, the growing economic region is home to a full range of cultural amenities, museums and performing arts venues, as well as pristine lakes and collegiate sports. The Richmond campus is less than 45 minutes to Dayton, Ohio, and an hour to Greater Cincinnati.
The Search Committee seeks candidates with a well-established record of academic or professional achievement, history of increasingly responsible administrative positions, and impeccable leadership qualities. Earned doctorate preferred. Strong organizational and communication skills, confident decision-making abilities, proven financial acumen and a record of success in building and sustaining effective public/private partnerships are essential.
The review of candidate materials will begin in mid-February and continue until the position is filled. Inquiries, nominations and applications—to include a detailed letter of interest reflecting on the desired attributes, CV and email/telephone contacts for five references—will be treated confidentially.
