FACULTY VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT
The City University of New York (CUNY) and Hunter College are in the midst of the Decade of Science. Hunter College is expanding its research capacity and profile and achieving new heights of academic distinction. The Center for Study of Gene Structure and Function (Gene Center) at Hunter College is seeking highly qualified candidates for a tenured-track Assistant or Associate Professor position who would develop a research program in the broad area of Translational Research with an emphasis on reducing minority health disparities. The areas of expertise include cancer, neurobiology, telehealth, and bioinformatics. The Gene Center includes selected faculty in Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Biopsychology, Biophysics, and Biomedical Anthropology and the successful candidate would qualify for an appointment in one of these departments. The Center aims to broaden and strengthen collaboration with other academic departments/institutions within and outside CUNY, public health organizations, foundations, and our affiliated clinical translational centers. The successful candidate would be expected to support and enhance these efforts.
QUALIFICATIONS
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
The candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in the areas noted above, and have a demonstrated track record indicating their capability of obtaining extramural funding and a willingness to participate in the goals of the Gene Center.

Assistant Professor: $42,873 - $74,133
Associate Professor: $55,602 - $88,418
