Substitution of Experience for Education Permitted No Preferred Qualifications Prefer applicants with: (1) radio dispatching experience with law enforcement/fire/EMS, (2) ability to effectively communicate over the phone/radio clearly and in a professional manner, (3) knowledge of the methods of handling difficult public contacts, (4) proficiency with standard office machinery to include a copier and fax, (5) proficiency in various computer applications (particularly Microsoft Word and Excel), (6) face-to-face and telephone customer service experience. Job Description The position performs duties as a Public Safety Dispatcher. Monitors closed circuit television equipment, acts as a liaison between emergency response personnel, fire and intrusion alarm personnel and security personnel for all related calls for service or concerns. Operates various office equipment including computer based programs, facsimile, and copier machine to assist in the preparation and maintenance of security office reports, files and computer data-based and any necessary correspondence or documentation. Maintains effective working relationship with college administration, faculty, staff, students, visitors and emergency response personnel in all security related matters and concerns. Supplemental Job Information Public Safety will be filling a second Staff Assistant (Public Safety Dispatcher) (Position Number NFCK0160) position from this applicant pool. Applicants must have the willingness and ability to work various shifts, including nights, holidays, and weekends. Public Safety Dispatchers are considered "essential employee positions" by the College and are subject to work during emergency closings of the College, in addition to College holidays and break periods.
