Job Description: We are seeking someone who can teach multiple courses within the department. We offer a variety of introductory-level courses including Introduction to Philosophy, Ethics, and Critical Thinking. We also offer World Religions and other courses that deal with religion from a philosophical perspective, including Philosophy of Religion, Religion in America, and Non-Western Philosophy. Preference will be given to candidates who can teach both the foundational Philosophy courses and the Religion courses.
Duties of Position: Teach 15 contact hours per semester in all levels of Philosophy courses. Hold 10 office hours per week. Serve on departmental, divisional, and campus-wide committees. Pursue professional development opportunities related to discipline and pedagogy.
Education Requirements: Applicants must have at least an M.A. in Philosophy or in a field that emphasizes the teaching of religion from a philosophical point of view. Degrees that will be considered include an M.A. in Religious Studies, Theology, or Comparative Religion, or an M. Div., if the granting institution has a demonstrated record of embracing multiple traditions and perspectives.
Experience Requirements: Post-secondary teaching experience required; community college experience preferred.
