Community Service Officer I - Patrol
Job Description: This position is responsible for patrolling college properties, performing designated security, parking enforcement activities and various administrative functions, thereby assisting the campus community, the general public and the Harper College Police Department. The CSO 1-Patrol promotes and maintains favorable college-community relations.
Duties of Position: Duties include the day-to-day safety and security of college property; opening and closing facilities as requested; conducting crime prevention spot checks of college assets; enforcing parking regulations; and resolving issues that do not require the services of a police officer.
Education Requirements: High School Graduate required or equivalent education and experience. Associate degree preferred.; at least 18 years of age; successfully complete a background investigation; have a valid Illinois Driver's license with good driving record; excellent communicative skills (both oral and written); successfully complete the ILETSB P.O.W.E.R. test; successfully complete a medical exam; and working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.
Experience Requirements: On the job training to be completed within six months includes completion of several law enforcement courses, medical certifications, and hazardous materials training. The candidate must also successfully complete the Harper College Police Department Field Training Program within six months of employment.
