Grinnell seeks a talented and professionally experienced Assistant Director of Alumni Relations for Admission Programs to create and execute an innovative vision for a premier Alumni Relations-Admissions volunteer program that fully integrates with and supports the College’s bold strategic goals. The Assistant Director must embrace a sense of partnership with the Office of Admission and share ownership of alumni relations success. The ideal candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, and dedicated; contribute creative ideas; have the ability to easily and effectively communicate with a broad range of audiences; and be passionate about the value of a liberal arts education and its potential for preparing students for service to the common good. He or she must have a demonstrated ability to provide entrepreneurial leadership and to build and repair key relationships—inspiring and empowering alumni and parent volunteers while also holding them accountable. He or she must be a collaborative team player who will be a strong advocate for the Alumni Relations and Admission programs but with an unwavering commitment to customer service. Initiative
The Position: The Assistant Director of Alumni Relations for Admission Programs will lead Grinnell College's efforts to develop and cultivate admission volunteer opportunities with alumni and parents who perform outreach to prospective students and high schools throughout the world on behalf of Grinnell College. Duties include, but are not limited to: 1) Coordinating and enhancing alumni and parent participation in key existing programs including the GRASP volunteer program; 2) Identifying and engaging key alumni and parent partners online, by phone, email, and through travel to regional alumni events to assist with admission activities; 3) Developing strategic partnerships with alumni, parents, students, colleagues within Development and Alumni Relations and across campus (e.g., academic departments, Office of Admission, Office of Communications, Athletics, Division of Student Affairs) in communicating opportunities and in exploring the possibility of various alumni and parent engagement programs such as: alumni and parent interview programs, regional prospective and admitted student events, Posse volunteer opportunities and college counseling workshops for alumni parents.
Qualifications: This position requires a bachelor's degree (Master’s degree preferred), well-developed communication, planning and organizational skills, and familiarity with current communications technology. Professional experience within an admissions or alumni relations office is preferred, as is experience with computer databases. A valid driver's license is required.
