Position Summary: Reporting to the Provost, the Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness will provide data analysis, interpretation of analysis and preparation of reports for both internal and external constituents. The Director of Institutional Research and Effectiveness must be prepared to create and maintain institutional databases from which he or she will produce accurate, concise and timely information and reports that support ongoing initiatives in regional and professional accreditation, enrollment management, grant agency support, and institutional assessment and effectiveness. With staff support, the Director gathers data and submits reports required by federal, state, regional and ad hoc agencies and accreditation bodies. The individual selected for this position must possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and have the ability to transform institutional data into information that can be accessed and used by the university community.
This position provides support for GSU's program review and strategic planning processes. The Director is responsible for the Institutional Research web-site including the GSU Fact Book, Enrollment and Strategic Plan Dashboards, and the Profile of Academic Majors. The Director has a growing and significant role in GSU efforts to assess institutional effectiveness and will assist in the coordination of the assessment and improvement of student learning. As such, this position participates in the Provost's and Deans' Council, the Committee on Assessment of Student Learning Outcomes, and will lead the Committee on Institutional Effectiveness on a regular basis, and will serve on other committees as opportunities arise. The Director supervises a Data Coordinator and may supervise students, interns, or other staff as needed. This position also participates in professional research, assessment, and institutional effectiveness organizations at the regional, state, and national level, keeping current in all aspects of the profession.

Minimum Qualifications: -- Master's degree and five or more years of experience in institutional research and assessment relevant to higher education.
-- Experience with database management systems, statistical analysis methods, techniques, and software packages, and spreadsheet development.
-- Must have demonstrated experience with research methods to collect, analyze, and report on findings, including publication of information on the web.
-- Knowledge of best practices in assessment and improvement of university student learning.
-- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty, staff, and external agencies.
-- Demonstrated expertise in working with various constituencies to design instruments and communicate results.
-- Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and lead groups working in a collaborative, strategy-driven environment.
