This job expired 3 months ago.Georgia State University Recreation Department are seeking applicants for their Associate Director - Recreation Programs position.
Duties: The Associate Director, Recreation Programs is directly responsible for all recreation programming within the Department of Recreational Services at Georgia State University. This position has direct supervision of (6) full-time professional staff (2 Assistant Directors and 4 Coordinators) over seeing all program areas including Aquatics, Fitness, Instructional Clinics, Intramurals, Sport Clubs, and Outdoor Recreation. Selected candidate will provide direct leadership in the development of a coordinated, diverse, high quality program including the creation and implementation of new and/or special programs. Manage, support and evaluate staff in each program area. Indirectly supervise graduate assistants and student assistants in all program areas. Coordinate all departmental annual special events and co-sponsored events throughout the year. Assist Director in departmental planning. Assist staff with programming where needed. Ensure that program marketing is coordinated with department Marketing Coordinator. Coordinate department program brochure (Recreation Rap-Up) each semester including edit dates, organization of program materials, special events, facility hours and membership information. Work with Graphic Designer, Marketing Coordinator and all staff to ensure brochure is prepared for layout and printing. Assist with budget management of all areas. Work collaboratively and/or partner with other student and university organizations as well as academic units on health, fitness and wellness programs. Work collaboratively and/or partner with research scientists from other departments and units including Nutrition, Psychology and Kinesiology and Health.
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science or related field and five years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience. First Aid/CPR/AED certifications required.
Preferred Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will have:
Master's degree in related field and management experience with an emphasis on campus recreation programming and administration. Full time professional staff supervision and evidence of student development activity (including hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, payroll and evaluation). Experience with developing and assessing learning outcomes and general assessment experience desirable. Knowledge of liability issues as they apply to facilities and equipment. NIRSA Certified Recreational Sports Specialist. This position may include weekend and evening hours.
Salary Range: Salary will be commensurate with experience and education.
