Georgia State University IS&T department is seeking applicants for a Assistant Manager, Data Center/ Platform and Storage Services position.

The Office of Information Systems and Technology (IS&T) is responsible for providing cutting-edge centralized technology services to the Georgia State University community. Recent and current major initiatives are the migration to Microsoft 365, campus wireless upgrades, and iPad registration for students.

The Assistant Manager, Data Center Services assists the data center manager in leading and coordinating the activities of staff for the University's Data Center/Platform and Storage Services unit - 24 hour per day, 7 day per week, 365 days per year. Georgia State's data center has won awards and is equipped with the latest technologies. Systems and services include: computing platforms and environmental software, digital storage/backups, interfacing platform tools, data center hosting environments, and in-depth expertise of IT asset operation across all technical domains.

Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

*Leads the support of products and services that provide in-depth expertise in the operation of IT assets across all domains using technical procedures. Examples include: monitoring (network, security, environmental, computer resources, applications), notification, system security scanning, problem resolution assistance, scheduled jobs/procedures execution, device status review.

*Leads the support of products and services based on ownership of physical space, whose primary intent is hosting IT equipment. Hosting components include: floor/rack space, power, environmental, security, materials management.

* Assists the manager in managing the daily responsibilities regarding ownership and operational components of systems and services: Includes daily management (allocation, capacity, monitor, troubleshoot, backup) of resources regarding compute platforms and enterprise storage (SAN and NAS).

* Assists the manager by leading after-hours technical support services for GSU. Provides specialized technical assistance and recovery support and services for the campus-wide network and centrally managed multi-platform systems environment. Anticipates emergent situations and responds accordingly, for all systems.

* Provides leadership in the management and use of IS&T-owned environmental software and middleware, whose primary intent is managing platforms or interfacing platforms to other devices. Examples of included tools: remote consoles (e.g. Raritan), Novell Identity Manager, Altiris, Security Tools (McAfee), Infovista, WhatsUp Gold, and other security assessment, system management, data encryption, asset discovery, infrastructure monitoring and configuration tools.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three years of related experience; or a combination of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and 5 years data center experience or a combination of education and work experience;

--Windows
--Linux
--VMWare,
--Apple, Network,
--Security

Prefer:
CISSP, MCITP, RHCE, and data center management certifications. Knowledge of Fullcost Maturity Model and Structural Cybernetics organizational principles.
