The Office of Institutional Effectiveness invites nominations and applications for the position of Senior Research Associate. Georgia Southern University (www.georgiasouthern.edu), a member institution of the University System of Georgia and a Carnegie Doctoral/Research University, is one of Georgia’s premier universities. A residential university serving more than 20,500 students, Georgia Southern is recognized for providing all of the benefits of a major university with the feeling of a much smaller college. Founded in 1906, the University offers more than 100 campus-based and online degree programs at the baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral levels through eight colleges. The more than 900 acre park-like campus is located in Statesboro, a classic Main Street community near historic Savannah and Hilton Head Island.
Within this setting, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness supports Georgia Southern University’s pursuit of academic distinction in teaching, scholarship, and service in a student-centered environment by providing leadership for assessment, institutional effectiveness, planning, and accreditation activities to academic and administrative units. Guided by a dedication to a culture of systematic self-reflection, evidence-based decision-making, and improvement, the Office of Institutional Effectiveness ensures that academic, administrative, and support units engage in assessment practices that accurately and comprehensively reflect their primary functions.
Position Description. Reporting to the Associate Vice President for Institutional Effectiveness, the Senior Research Associate will have the technical knowledge to select and apply appropriate relational databases (Access, Crystal Reports, MySQL, etc.) to filter and present data; program and design sustainable methods for reporting large and varied data sets; develop and implement macros (Word, Excel, Access) for extracting specific information; aggregate, analyze, and present data clearly and meaningfully; and select and conduct appropriate statistical operations (SPSS, SAS, Excel). The Senior Research Associate should be able to advise multiple audiences, including faculty and administration, on appropriate statistical methodologies for analyzing their assessment data. The Senior Research Associate position requires administrative and service responsibilities as well as a master’s degree. The position also carries faculty rank as an instructor and is a 12-month, non-tenure track appointment, with a highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Master’s Degree in Statistics, Applied Statistics, Measurement and Research, or a related field by position starting date
