Job Summary/Basic Function: The Development Officer for Allied Health and Sciences in the Office of Institutional Advancement works with the Institutional Advancement team to support the college's development activities for priorities related to allied health and sciences. The Development Officer is responsible for identifying and cultivating donors, soliciting and securing significant gifts, conducting appropriate stewardship of donors and partners, and completing special assigned projects. The Development Officer works closely with administrators and faculty in allied health and STEM related majors to identify and secure private resources to support the mission of Georgia Perimeter College.
Required Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience with a proven track record of successfully meeting and exceeding fundraising goals in higher education, non-profit, or other similar organization is required. Candidate must have demonstrated and consistent ability to work with donors and external partners to close significant gifts or have experience managing relationships that produce measurable results.
Experience with Raiser's Edge fundraising software is desirable.
Required Education: A minimum of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university is required. A Master's Degree is preferred.
Preferred Qualifications: The Development Officer must have demonstrated fundraising skills, ideally with campaign experience, with the ability to cultivate and solicit. Experience in individual and corporate solicitation is preferred, with a focus on programs in allied health, sciences or a focus on independent academic unit assignment. An ability to demonstrate respect and appreciation for students and higher education and interact well with staff, faculty, and students is especially important.
It is essential that the successful candidate be detail oriented and skilled at seeing the bigger picture. The Development Officer must have the ability to work independently, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and be comfortable working as part of a team while being receptive to supervision. Candidate must be physically able to operate a variety of machines and equipment including computer, office equipment and telephone. Excellent written, oral and interpersonal communication skills are essential.
