Georgia College & State University is seeking a dynamic teacher who will offer stimulating and educational opportunities to the students of our university. The candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public history and the US or World Civilization survey, oversee public history internships, direct senior theses, build partnerships with local communities, establish internships, assist with long-term planning and developing new courses. Candidates will be responsible for managing the undergraduate and graduate public history concentration and recruiting students to the program.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Ability to interact effectively with departmental faculty and faculty from various fields of specialties campus-wide, local and regional communities, and public history practitioners; Ability to work with little supervision; Strong knowledge of their area of specialty and the field of public history; Creative and able to develop short and long term plans for the program; ability to supervise both assistants and direct numerous public history internships
Minimum Qualifications:
ABDs will be considered only if applicant can provide evidence of imminent completion of the degree. Applicants should have a record or provide evidence of potential to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in public history and the US or World Civilization survey, oversee internships, build partnerships with local communities, assist with long-term planning and developing new courses in one of the following areas: new media, community-based public history projects, oral history, or cultural heritage.
Perferred Qualifications:
Preferred qualifications for this position include a Ph.D. in history (field open) with evidence of public history coursework from an accredited institution at the time of appointment; two years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Public history and the U.S or World Civilization survey.
