DOCTORAL FACULTY POSITIONS
The School of Human and Organizational Development at Fielding Graduate University invites applications for two full-time faculty positions in its multidisciplinary PhD degree program. Core faculty member responsibilities include mentoring students in their PhD studies, disseminating knowledge from scholarship and professional practice, and supporting institutional service and governance. Faculty members work with mid-career professionals at a distance and in face-to-face settings on doctoral dissertations, research and professional practice projects, on-line seminars, and at international, national, and regional Fielding workshop sessions. Through Fielding’s distributed structure, faculty members live and work throughout North America and travel to workshop sessions in Santa Barbara and other locations.
Applications will be reviewed beginning in March 2012 with a desired start date of July 2012 or January 2013 contingent upon funding. We will continue to review applications until the positions are filled.
Qualifications:
We seek scholar-practitioners with an active program of scholarship and professional practice in human development (emphasis on adult development) or human and organizational systems. Additional scholarly depth is desirable related to one or more of three doctoral concentrations:
• Aging, Culture and Society,
• Information Society and Knowledge Organizations, or
• Transformative Learning for Social Justice.
Applicants should have a track record of research and consultation in business, government and/or NGO/nonprofit organizations. Individuals whose work includes a global perspective and a demonstrated commitment to issues of social justice and diversity are encouraged to apply.
Specific Qualifications:
• A doctoral degree in a social science or field related to the position as advertised
• competence in student-centered collaborative adult learning with students from diverse backgrounds
• excellent communication skills in online environments as well as face-to-face small and large group settings
• experience supervising doctoral students and dissertations
• evidence of scholarly productivity including funded research or professional practice projects
• demonstrated facility with one or more modes of doctoral level research inquiry including quantitative, qualitative, participatory, and action-oriented methods.
