Job Description:
Farmingdale State College invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in Psychology at the Assistant Professor level. Ability to develop and teach a range of courses in psychology including introductory and upper level courses. Responsibilities include advising and mentoring students in our Applied Psychology B.S. program as well as developing and supervising internships and senior projects. Applicant should be involved in a program of research or prepared to commence a research program suitable for undergraduate involvement. Excellent teaching, participation in campus governance, and development of scholarly activity leading to publication and/or grant funding are necessary for reappointment and tenure.
All faculty members at Farmingdale State College have three workload components: teaching, research and scholarly activity, and service. Service includes advising students as well as serving on departmental and college wide committees. The successful candidate will demonstrate an interest and high level of competence in teaching. Candidates should have a research agenda that complements their area of academic specialty and has the potential for peer-reviewed publications and presentations, both of which are necessary for promotion and tenure at Farmingdale State College.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ph.D. in Cognitive/Experimental Psychology by the time of appointment. A Ph.D. in other areas of psychology will also be considered with a demonstrated ability to teach undergraduate courses in Cognitive Psychology and Learning.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Ability to teach a variety of courses including Statistics, Social Psychology and/or Research Methods.

This is a full-time, 10 month faculty position.
