Under the general supervision of the Director of Online Learning, assist the online course development team in providing technical and administrative support for online and blended graduate and undergraduate courses. This position will support LMS (Learning Management System) users in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of all issues related specifically to Blackboard 9.1 and its integrated applications. This position requires extensive interaction with instructional designers and faculty members who are teaching, developing, updating or modifying courses.

DESCRIPTION OF JOB:

Under the general supervision of the Director of Online Learning, assist the online course development team in providing technical and administrative support for online and blended graduate and undergraduate courses. This position will support LMS (Learning Management System) users in the investigation, analysis, and resolution of all issues related specifically to Blackboard 9.1 and its integrated applications. This position requires extensive interaction with instructional designers and faculty members who are teaching, developing, updating or modifying courses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Prepare course content for uploading into the LMS in collaboration with faculty and the instructional design team through the use of HTML coding and appropriate file formatting. This will include uploading documents designed and developed by faculty, creating discussions, group work, links to internal and external sites and resources, and building quizzes as directed by the instructional design team and faculty course developers.

-Perform quality assurance testing on online and blended course sites, including checking links, formatting, graphics, multimedia, content accuracy, navigation and other issues.

-Communicate in a timely manner with faculty and instructional designers on course development issues.

-Provide timely support and troubleshooting of technology issues encountered by faculty and students in online and blended courses.

-Assist with the development of instructional materials and technology set-up for faculty development workshops.

-Other duties as assigned.

-This full-time position may require travel between Edgewood College’s two campus locations. Employee must provide their own transportation. Some weekend and evening hours may be required. This is an onsite position.

NECESSARY EDUCATION OR WORK EXPERIENCE:

-Earned Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience with an academic technology emphasis

-At least one year of experience in supporting LMS users at the college/ university level

-At least one year of experience with current version of Blackboard (strongly preferred)

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:

-Proficiency with Blackboard 9.1 LMS

-Ability to communicate proactively, collaboratively, and professionally with team members

-Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to communicate technical information in terms understandable to faculty clients

-Proven customer service skills including: diplomacy, patience, persistence in follow-up, and the successful handling of issues, questions, and suggestions

-Commitment to meet project goals and deadlines

-Proficiency with the Microsoft Office suite of programs

-Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot software and hardware user problems

-Strong familiarity with both PC and Mac operating environments

-Careful attention to detail, excellent editing skills, and dedication to producing top-quality work

-Web and multimedia development experience

-Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment

-Ability to edit and organize electronic information to create high quality course content suited to the adult online learner

-Ability to take initiative in providing support to the Blackboard users, as well as an understanding of the different needs and perspectives within an educational institution

-Demonstrate multicultural competence: the awareness, knowledge, and skills needed to work with others who are culturally different from self in meaningful, relevant, and productive ways.
