Position Summary: A Staff Interpreter facilitates communication between persons who are deaf/hard of hearing seeking Vocational Rehabilitation services and Vocational Rehabilitation staff or other persons (i.e.: employers, doctors, post-secondary instructors, etc.) involved in an individual's rehabilitation services. The position has a high level of accountability for dealing with confidential information and sensitive issues, and performs in an ethical manner. Position includes other duties as assigned The position is located in the Louisville area, requires some travel and is contingent upon outside funding.
Minimum Educational Qualifications: Associated degree or completion of a minimum of 60 hours of college coursework is required.
Minimum Licensure/Certification Qualifications: - Interpreters must be licensed in the state of Kentucky and certified by a national organization to work in Kentucky.
- Must meet requirements of Kentucky Interpreter Licensure Law KRS 309.300-309.319
- Must hold a valid Kentucky driver's license.
Minimum Experience Qualifications: - Minimum of three years' work experience in a related profession is required.
- Strong bilingual skills in ASL and English
- Requires routine skills requiring some previous demonstrated experience and/or appropriate vocational qualifications.
