POSITION: Department of Art, Sculpture and 3D Foundations Tenure-Track Position – Assistant Professor, salary commensurate with experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Teach introductory through graduate level sculpture courses, 3D foundations, and other teaching duties as assigned. In probationary years prior to tenure, the teaching load is reduced to five courses an academic year, after being awarded tenure, the normal load is six studio classes per academic year for a total of 18 contact hours per week. Maintain the sculpture studio, its tools and equipment and supervise work-study or student help when assigned to studio area. Other responsibilities include assisting with student advisement, committee assignments, and official meetings and functions.
The Department of Art consists of 18 faculty members and 200+ majors. The department is NASAD accredited and offers a BFA in Art with options in Graphic Design, Studio & Art Education, BA in Art with options in Art History & Studio, MA in Art and MA in Art with option in Art Education.
QUALIFICATIONS: Master of Fine Arts Degree (MFA, 60-semester hour) with technical competencies in basic and advanced studio sculpture procedures required; preferably including metal fabrication, woodworking, ceramic shell casting/foundry and non-traditional techniques. Technical skills and abilities to instruct 3D foundations processes/media required. Prior teaching experience at the college or university level (beyond graduate assistantships) in sculpture required. A strong, contemporary exhibition record in sculpture preferred. Ability to teach 2D foundations, drawing or other studio area processes/media preferred.
