Job Description: The Quality Assurance Coordinator assumes responsibility for working with administrators, faculty, and staff in academic and non-academic units in the development and administration of process improvement systems and processes to advance the goals outlined in the Title III Strengthening Institutions grant. The position advances the work of the strategic planning, resource development, and quality enhancement (using the Baldrige Model for Performance Excellence) functions of the Office of Institutional Planning, Assessment, and Research (IPAR).

The individual in this position assumes a role in the process improvement efforts of the University (using the Baldrige Model for Performance Excellence) in the following criteria: leadership, strategic planning, customer focus, data and knowledge management, workforce, systems and processes, and results. The position creates project specifications, project plans, supervises the progress of all assigned projects, and updates users and administrators on the status of projects. The individual in this position is responsible for all project documentation.

This position requires both management and strong interpersonal skills. Collaboration and implementation of process improvement and planning strategies require strong negotiation and decision-making skills. The ability to prepare detailed and comprehensive reports and to present data and information clearly and concisely in both oral and written form is essential. The individual must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships. The individual must be knowledgeable about and able to obtain information from a variety of sources including university personnel, printed material, the Internet, and electronic media. This position will be asked to serve as a member of institutional and divisional committees, task forces, and councils. Knowledge of sound management principles, business processes, and business intelligence systems is essential to the position.

The Quality Assurance Coordinator is proactive in seeking solutions that positively impact team performance, looks for the most creative solution to problems, and selects appropriate information and best methods for communicating solutions to peers. The range of salary is $35,000-$40,000 and the funding is secured through September 30, 2012 with the potential for renewal.

Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in business administration, social or behavioral sciences, or other relevant area. Masters preferred. All degrees should be from appropriately accredited institutions. Experience in strategic planning and assessment, preferably in higher education and with a focus on student retention and success, well-developed skills in process improvement, business intelligence solutions, and excellent written and interpersonal communication skills are required. Experience in grant writing preferred. The position requires the ability to work independently, attend to multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines.
