Job Description: Assistant/Associate Professor (Re-advertised). The Department Literacy Studies, English Education, and History Education in the College of Education at East Carolina University is seeking applicants and nominations for a tenure-track, nine-month, full-time faculty position available August 12, 2013. Rank and salary: Commensurate with qualifications.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate reading/literacy education courses in both face-to-face and online environments; participating in graduate level research projects; conducting an active research/publication agenda; and providing service to the university, community, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum qualifications include: (1) Ph.D. or Ed.D. degree, from an appropriately accredited institution, earned by July 15, 2013, in Reading or Literacy Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related area with concentration in Reading or Literacy; (2) successful teaching experience in public school setting; eligibility for NC teaching licensure; demonstrated potential for research and (3) scholarship experience in collaborative work with public schools/universities; and demonstrated experience in college teaching.

Special consideration will be given to applicants with experience in teaching reading/literacy in K-5 with an interest in working with diverse populations in K-12 public school contexts.

Special Instructions to Applicants: Candidates must submit the following documents online: (1) a letter of application describing academic background, specific skills, and experiences relevant to the position, (2) a written statement describing research productivity and agenda, (3) at least two examples of scholarly works, and (4) a current vitae. Candidates must also submit: (1) a copy of all transcripts and (2) three current letters of reference to: Dr. Johna Faulconer, Search Chair, 233 Speight Building, Department of Literacy Studies, English, and History, College of Education, East Carolina University, Greenville, NC 27858. Finalists will be required to present the results of a research study as well as describe plans for a future research study. In addition, they will have the opportunity to work with the Associate Dean for Funded Research on submitting a proposal for research start-up funds available at East Carolina University. Screening ongoing until the position is filled.
