Job Description: Assistant/Associate Professor in Science Education. The Department of Mathematics, Science, and Instructional Technology Education is seeking applications and nominations for a nine-month, full-time tenure-track faculty position in the College of Education, East Carolina University to begin August 13, 2012. Rank/Salary: Commensurate with qualifications.

Responsibilities include teaching undergraduate/graduate classes in science education, supervising interns and graduate student research, maintaining a record of research and scholarship, grant development, and providing service to the university, community, and profession.

Minimum Qualifications: (1) Ed.D. or Ph.D. earned by July 15, 2012, in science education or a scientific discipline/related field with experience related to science education; (2) demonstrated record of scholarly research and publication (for associate) and demonstrated potential for scholarly research and publication (for assistant); (3) demonstrated record of excellence in teaching university level courses in science and/or science education (for associate) and demonstrated potential for excellence in teaching (for assistant).

Special consideration will be given to applicants with an emphasis in secondary science education; a strong/emergent research record; experience teaching both face-to-face and online courses in science and/or science education at the undergraduate/graduate level; interest and/or experience in pursuing external grant funds; and, eligibility for NC Teaching License.

Finalists will be required to present the results of a current research study as well as describe plans for future research. In addition, they will have the opportunity to work with the Associate Dean for Grants and Research on submitting a proposal for research start-up funds available at East Carolina University.
