Job Description: The Department of Child Development and Family Relations (CDFR) at East Carolina University (ECU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position (assistant/associate level) in the program area of Medical Family Therapy(MedFT)/Marriage and Family Therapy (MFT) starting August 15, 2014. The department seeks to attract a culturally and academically diverse faculty of the highest caliber skilled in the scholarship of research, teaching, leadership, clinical supervision, and the application of knowledge. Review of applications will begin November 15, 2013, and continue until the position has been filled.
Responsibilities: Develop an active research program; secure external funding; teach undergraduate and graduate courses; supervise master's (MFT) and doctoral (MedFT) level students; chair theses and dissertations; advise MedFT/MFT students; and provide service to the profession, university, and community.
The Department of Child Development and Family Relations is one of six departments in the College of Human Ecology. Approximately 550 full-time students and 120 licensure-only students are enrolled in the undergraduate programs of birth through kindergarten teacher education, family and consumer sciences teacher education, child life, and family and community services. An additional 85 students are enrolled in the master's degree programs of birth through kindergarten education, family and consumer sciences education, child development and family relations, and marriage and family therapy and in the doctoral program in medical family therapy. The department houses the Redditt House: Medical Family Therapy Research Academy, ECU Family Therapy Clinic, and the Nancy W. Darden Child Development Center. Minimum Qualifications: Earned PhD in Marriage and Family Therapy or related field from an appropriately accredited institution; eligible for North Carolina Licensure; AAMFT Approved Supervisor, supervisor candidate, or equivalent; strong research record commensuarate with level of experience and a well-developed research agenda; AAMFT clinical member; and commitment to excellence in research, grant writing, teaching, clinical supervision. Experience as a committee member and/or chair of a completed thesis and/or dissertation preferred.
