DS2 COURSE COORDINATOR - - SCHOOL OF DENTAL MEDICINE

Job Description: The core facility of the School of Dental Medicine at East Carolina University is located on the Health Sciences campus of ECU in Greenville, North Carolina.
The Division of Health Sciences is the largest and most complex division within the university, employing more than 700 EPA and approximately 1,700 SPA employees. The mission of the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine is to: prepare leaders with outstanding clinical skills; provide educational opportunities for individuals from historically underrepresented groups, disadvantaged backgrounds, and underserved areas; provide and enhance oral health services for underserved North Carolinians through implementation of community-oriented service learning and interprofessional collaborations; foster an environment where creativity, collaboration, and diversity are embraced; and guide future clinical practice and dental education through innovation and discovery.
During the first three years, dental education will take place primarily on the Greenville campus. The fourth year educational experience will take place in dedicated community clinical service learning centers located in rural and dentally underserved areas around the state.
The ECU SoDM will provide a unique dental education experience with emphasis on preparing graduates to fulfill an expanded primary care role that requires well developed assessment skills and capacity to provide a broad array of dental care services.
The DS2 Course Coordinator provides the logistic support needed to run the lectures, seminars, labs, exams and schedules for the second year courses. This individual works with the Clinical Affairs Office, the Office of Academic Support and the Office of Dental Education and Informatics in implementing the first year curriculum.
This position monitors all skill assessments and exams that are required to progress to the third year of study through completion and evaluation. The DS2 Course Coordinator will report to the Director of Course Management in the Office of Dental Education and Informatics.
Specific duties include:
Providing the logistic support needed to run the lectures, seminars, labs, exams and schedules for the second year courses.
Monitoring all skill assessments and exams required to progress to the third year of study.
Monitoring daily schedules of second year courses and providing feedback to the Director of Course Management of any issues that may arise.
Ensuring appropriate educational support is available for all course activity.
Coordination of the systems needed to evaluate student participation in the curriculum.
Coordination of student assessment of faculty performance.
Applying project planning and project management methodologies for assigned projects.
Translation of the proposed workflow to the initial set-up of the systems.
Developing specialized reports for faculty and administrators as appropriate.
Other duties as needed and as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in education, special education, instructional design, educational technology, educational media, or related discipline with coursework in curriculum development or learning theory; or a Bachelor's degree in the assigned discipline and two years of experience in educational testing, or instructional design and curriculum development; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Additional Preferred Qualifications: Knowledge of Health Science Education, Learning Management Systems and Learning Content Management Systems, survey Creation and implementation Systems.
Good interpersonal skills to work with diverse group of people are required.
