Job Description: Director of Assessment and Accreditation. The Office of Assessment and Accreditation is seeking applications and nominations for an eleven-month, full-time, stated definite term, non-faculty position in the College of Education, East Carolina University to begin August 1, 2012. Salary commensurate with qualifications.

The Director will be charged with developing and leading a comprehensive assessment system centered on a culture of evidence of student learning outcomes in all related professional academic programs. The Director serves as a key member of the leadership team in the College of Education and collaborates with multiple academic units by conducting systematic research and assessment of student success and services. This person will provide leadership, coordination, and professional expertise for program evaluation, outcomes assessment, and research efforts within the College of Education and across various academic units. In collaboration with the Office of Institutional Planning, Research and Assessment, he/she will advise departments in strategic planning to improve educational programming and service delivery in the College, and to enhance the quality and outcomes of student learning in all related professional academic programs. The Director supports institutional effectiveness and assessment efforts; and in consultation with Institutional Planning, Assessment and Research (IPAR), will lead the assessment and accreditation efforts for the College. In addition to leading the SACS reaffirmation process, this individual serves in a key leadership role in the accreditation efforts for the State Department of Public Instruction (SDPI) and the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).

The Director will provide development, oversight and monitoring of the collection of program and unit assessment data for program evaluation, accountability, and accreditation for all College of Education (COE) programs and teacher education programs in other colleges.

Minimum Qualifications: Masters degree in research and evaluation or related area required; doctorate preferred. All degrees should be from appropriately accredited institutions.
--Five (5) years of full time experience in institutional research, educational evaluation, or related field preferred.
--Knowledge of research design (quantitative and qualitative) required.
--Proficiency in the use of statistical analyses and packages (i.e. SAS, SPSS, etc.)
--Highly developed written and oral communications skills (including presentations and briefings) required.
--Familiar with accreditation standards and processes, including the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), State Department of Public Instruction, and National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).
