East Carolina University, a constituent institution of the University of North Carolina, is a doctoral institution with an enrollment of over 27,000 students and approximately 4,500 faculty and staff.

Job Description: The Division of University Advancement is the major alumni engagement and fund-raising arm of the University. All of its activities are designed to generate support for East Carolina University, whether that support takes the form of simple goodwill or is a major financial commitment that takes years to bring to fruition. The East Carolina Alumni Association exists to inform, involve, and serve members of the ECU family throughout their lifelong relationship with the University.

Reporting to the President and CEO, the Director of Alumni Membership and Marketing manages a 3 person team that provides marketing and communications support for all programs and services and delivers a membership program that is responsible for ensuring a consistent message across Alumni Association communication and marketing efforts, to include:

Oversee the Membership Program: Work with the Assistant Director for Alumni Membership to maximize membership acquisition, stewardship, and retention.

Electronic Communication: Responsible for all electronic communication including (but not limited to) PirateAlumni.com, e-mail marketing, and social media (Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and YouTube).

Print Communication: Produce layout and design for all Alumni Association publications including (but not limited to) event invitations, membership appeals, ads, and the quarterly magazine EC Alumni.

Qualifications:
-Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build a favorable rapport with colleagues and constituents.
-Previous work in a membership organization.
-Demonstrated experience with web-based technology and content management systems.
-Advanced knowledge and experience with online social media and e-communication.
-Experience with the development and production of a magazine.
-Flexibility and the capacity to juggle multiple responsibilities simultaneously in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Organizational skills and attention-to-detail are a must.
-Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite software (especially InDesign and Photoshop).
-Advanced level photography skills are a plus.

Minimum Qualifications: Candidates should possess a bachelor's degree from an appropriately accredited institution in communications, marketing, public relations or a related field of study with a minimum of three years' experience in a professional communication environment. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with East Carolina's history, understand the Advancement discipline and how it fits within the university structure, and have worked in a University setting. Occasional night and weekend work is required.
