ASSISTANT PROFESSOR, ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR, OR PROFESSOR

Job Description: The Department of Kinesiology, within the College of Health and Human Performance, at East Carolina University invites applications for three full-time, tenure-track positions at any rank, from Assistant to Full Professor. Rank will be commensurate with education and experience. A Doctoral degree and relevant post-doctoral experience in exercise science, physiology, biochemistry, or a related field is required. The candidate is expected to: maintain a strong publication record, have, or be developing, an externally funded research program, mentor graduate students in the Bioenergetics and Exercise Science PhD program (ranked in the top 10 nationally), teach to support the Departmental mission, and provide service to the university, community, and profession. The successful candidate will hold an appointment in the Human Performance Laboratory (HPL: http://www.ecu.edu/hpl/) with the potential for joint appointment in the Brody School of Medicine. Current research interests present in the HPL and in collaborating entities within the Brody School of Medicine, the East Carolina Diabetes and Obesity Institute, and the Center for Health Disparities Research include adult and pediatric obesity, diabetes, muscle and metabolic dysfunction, cardiovascular disease, and cancer. Research facilities include existing laboratory space in the Human Performance Laboratory and Brody School of Medicine, two existing exercise testing and training facilities, and a 25,000 square foot research facility on the Health Sciences Campus for collaborative research to be completed by January, 2014.
