Job Description: Applications are invited for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor level to begin 8/13/2012. Microeconomists with an applied or theoretical focus on risk and uncertainty are encouraged to apply. We are seeking a candidate who can contribute to our planned Ph.D. program in Economics. The primary areas of focus for the program are: environmental and health risks; decision making and risk management; and analytic and econometric tools for risk evaluation. Preference will be given to applicants who apply risk analysis to health issues.
Candidates must have an active research agenda, and a commitment to effective teaching and service to the university, community, and profession. PhD required, but will consider other ranks/titles based on degree and qualifications. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated capability to undertake scholarly research publishable in leading journals and demonstrated performance in delivering effective teaching at the Ph.D. level. The ECU Department of Economics has successful undergraduate and M.S. programs, participates in interdisciplinary M.S. and Ph.D. programs, and also works closely with the ECU Center for Natural Hazards Research and ECU Institute for Coastal Science and Policy. East Carolina University is located in Greenville, North Carolina, a city of 85,000 people located about 85 miles east of Raleigh. ECU is the third largest of the 16 UNC campuses, with a student population of approximately 27,000.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. from an appropriately accredited institution required.
