This job expired 2 months ago.The Regional Director will be responsible for fundraising and organizing the alumni constituency in one or two regions of the country with high concentrations of alumni. Fundraising efforts will involve identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and planned gifts for the Duke University School of Law. The portfolio of donor prospects will include individuals, corporations, foundations, and law firms. The Regional Director will work closely with the Dean and administrative personnel to develop funding strategies and gift
opportunities to meet fundraising goals.
Understand and effectively articulate the Law School's goals, objectives, and needs to prospective donors. These include, but are not limited to, financial aid, clinical legal education, faculty support, and a variety of interdisciplinary centers and programs.
Understand and represent to donors the fullarray of gift vehicles including outright gifts, trusts, bequests, gifts of property, etc.
Maintain a portfolio of prospects (150+) and an active cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship schedule with prospects and donors in the $50,000+ range, involving administration, faculty, and volunteers as appropriate. Solicit donors (both individuals and entities) verbally and through written proposals.
Direct the nature and number of contacts that prospects receive, involving and informing staff, and
coordinating with the University's Development Office and other schools as solicitation and cultivation activities warrant.
Work closely with the Alumni Office to organize and implement a regional alumni outreach plan.
Work closelywith the AnnualFund staff to integrate annual fund and reunion giving solicitations into regional and major gift strategies.
Foster and maintain productive relationships with other units within the University.
Handle other projects as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Minimum three years experience in major gifts fundraising with progressive responsibility, achievement and proven success in major and planned gifts.
Proven ability to work autonomously and to effectively manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously, along with the ability to interact with a variety of important audiences, including volunteers, major donors, prospects, and faculty members.
Excellent writing, verbal communication, analytical, and organizational skills.
Bachelor's degree required, masters or law degree preferred.
Ability to travel up to50% of the time and work flexible hours.
