The Software Engineer will play a leadership role in the design, development, deployment and administration of applications used as part of Drake's strategic technology initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to identity management, web single sign-on, enterprise/desktop single sign-on and Drake's enterprise web portal. This person will focus both on the systems and process side of the applications installed and in use, both during project rollouts and on-going.

Title:  Software Engineer, Level 2 - 998528

The Software Engineer will play a leadership role in the design, development, deployment and administration of applications used as part of Drake's strategic technology initiatives. This includes, but is not limited to identity management, web single sign-on, enterprise/desktop single sign-on and Drake's enterprise web portal.  This person will focus both on the systems and process side of the applications installed and in use, both during project rollouts and on-going. The primary focus will be administering the systems, managing changes to the systems, workflows, and working with the stakeholders to ensure that the systems and processes are implemented and used as intended. Initial focus will be on improving legacy system identity and access management processes prior to selection of strategic identity and access management tools.  The ideal candidate will have a BA in computer science or a related field and have experience with commericial IDM solutions, CAS, Shibboleth, Java and J2EE, Javascript, SQL, C#, .NET and portal technolgies.  The ideal candidate will demonstrate initiative and have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 
Function Percent Description
01 60% Provide design, architecture and implementation leadership for complex applications.  Gather requirements, design, develop, test and deploy new systems and legacy system enhancements according to Drake standards, policy and procedures. Develop application integration where required. Develop single sign on capability where required. Provide subject matter expertise in the selection of third party products. Lead implementation of third party products. Develop and implement standards and best practices.
02 35% Performs daily monitoring and troubleshooting of operational issues and customer reported problems. Apply vendor releases and perform resynchronization of customized vendor code when new releases are applied according to Drake standards, policy and procedures. Design, document and implement routine maintenance procedures for systems to proactively avoid problems. Design, document and implement business continuity procedures.
03 5% Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned. Exhibits a willingness to learn new tasks and welcomes new challenges. Demonstrates initiative toward proactive problem resolution of service needs. Asks questions before beginning unfamiliar tasks. Proposes innovative or best practice solutions to improve service or resolve problems. Makes decisions that are strategically viable and tactically useful. Promotes an institutional perspective and fosters professional achievement of self and colleagues.
 
Knowledge of specialized principles or techniques normally obtained through a four-year college/university academic program or an equivalent in-depth specialized training program directly related to the type of work being performed.

Skills:
Experience with Java and J2EE, Javascript, SQL, C#, .NET
Experience with Windows and UNIX or LINUX operating systems and associated scripting languages
Experience in a structured software development environment having performed all steps in the software development lifecycle.
Experience with Single Sign On with CAS
Experience with Federated IDM with Shibboleth
Experience with portal technologies
Experience with Enterprise Directory Architecture and Design with AD and Sun LDAP
Experience with ISS, Apache or Oracle Web Logic
