Daemen College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the History & Political Science Department. A Ph.D. in Political Science with field specialization in both American Politics and Public Administration/Public Policy is required. We are seeking American Politics subfield specializations in legislative and executive politics, political behavior and elections, public opinion; the department is not interested in candidates with specialization in Public Law or Judicial Politics. ABD applicants will be considered only with evidence that the Ph.D. will be in hand by August 2014.
The successful candidate will have responsibility for teaching a range of lower/upper division courses consistent with the candidate’s area of expertise for the Political Science program, including Introduction to Public Administration, Voting and Elections, Legislative Politics and share in the rotation of introductory political science courses and senior thesis. The successful candidate must be able to develop and offer a graduate-level course in public policy, legislative advocacy, or public administration in support of pending masters programs. The successful candidate will also be able to offer undergraduate courses in their area of expertise to support of the College’s core curriculum.
Applicants must have teaching experience and the promise of teaching excellence at the undergraduate level, a commitment to innovative teaching, and the promise of active involvement in curricular and program development, and department and college-wide service. Experience working with diverse student and faculty population and evidence of an active, productive research agenda are also required.
