CONNECTICUT COLLEGE, a highly selective private liberal arts college, located in the historic seaport of New London, seeks a highly motivated and skilled professional to develop, implement and direct a strategic communications plan to support and advance fundraising and alumni relations. Reporting to the Vice President of College Relations with secondary reporting to the Vice President for Advancement, this varied and exciting professional position is an opportunity to articulate and implement a cohesive vision for messaging, branding, communications and marketing in the advancement arena. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled communicator who understands the higher education landscape and relates well to individuals from all cultural backgrounds.

The Director of Advancement Communications will be responsible for creating and implementing a communications plan for the final two years of the $200 million Campaign for Connecticut College. Additional responsibilities include: supervise the work of the Advancement Writer; facilitate communications and information sharing between the Offices of Advancement and College Relations; serve in an editorial role for alumni communications; coordinate the flow of advancement projects within College Relations; manage market research; develop assessment programs to measure the effectiveness of advancement communications; other duties as assigned.

Bachelor’s degree and 5-7 years progressively responsible experience in the communications field and in working with senior level executives required. Must have exceptional written and oral communications skills and a proven track record of creating effective fundraising communications. Prior experience with capital campaign communications is required; prior experience in higher education is strongly preferred. The successful candidate will be familiar with evolving communications technologies, including electronic marketing and social media. The ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a complex environment is necessary, as is ability to interact with people from all aspects of the college and community.
